DPF Cleaning – The Problem
Today’s vehicles and machine applications have to deal with ever increasing, stringent emissions levels. As such, the engine and exhaust system has to carry out a significantly more important job to reduce and clean exhaust emissions. Extended service intervals, low quality fuel, engine component failure, incorrect engine oil as well as poor driving habits and styles all contribute to the detriment of the DPF’s service life.
Some try other ways, unsuccessfully, to clean their dirty particulate filters and these do not work.
A DPF is designed to operate like a one-way valve. This means deposits can only be removed the way they come into the filter. Using cleaning fluids is incorrect because you are forcing the deposits through the filter the wrong way, the very thing it was designed to prevent from happening! We have seen numerous results where the DPF has melted or cracked due to the fluid acting on one small area of the filter .
Ash is a byproduct of burning soot in the DPF during the engines regeneration cycle and cannot be reburnt itself. The only way to remove ash and other deposits is by reverse-flow cleaning in Autojobs patent, purpose built, DPF cleaning machine.
Illegal and illicit ways of ”resolving” the dirty filter problem for some has been to destroy and remove the filters monolith completely and install cheat software into the engine ECU. In doing so, irresponsible individuals are damaging health and the environment.
New steps are now underway in Ireland through the national test network for cars and commercial vehicles to thoroughly examine emissions systems and heavily penalise those who are found to be operating their vehicle illegally. DPF Cleaning – How It Works
First of all the dpf filter is thoroughly examined inside and out to ensure no irreparable damage exists to the precious monolith. The filter is then secured and connected to our purpose built, patent, dpf cleaning machine where a pressure test is conducted to assess the blockage. Hot water and a special dpf friendly, cleaning enzyme is pulsed through the filter to remove the deposits. Compressed hot air is blown through the filter to dry it out. It is pressure tested again, giving a printed reading of the before and after cleaning results. The interior of the filter is examined once more and a report card filled out. Finally it is packaged, ready to return to the customer.
